Arapahoe is 1-9 against Overland since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Arapahoe Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Overland Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m. Arapahoe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
Arapahoe is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Eaglecrest, who was ranked second at the time (Arapahoe was ranked 11th). Arapahoe took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eaglecrest on Wednesday.
Despite their loss, Arapahoe saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ryan Pramenko, who posted 14 points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Foa, who scored seven points along with seven boards and four steals.
Meanwhile, Overland also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Smoky Hill by a score of 64-54. The defeat continues a trend for the Trailblazers in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now lost seven in a row.
Like Arapahoe, Overland lost despite seeing results from several players. Mehki Mcneal led the charge by putting up 12 points and five rebounds. Tj Manuel was another key player, posting 12 points.
Even though they lost, Overland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Overland's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Arapahoe, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 15-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Arapahoe has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Overland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Arapahoe couldn't quite finish off Overland in their previous matchup back in January and fell 68-66. Can Arapahoe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
