Preview: Catholic Central Crusaders vs. Madonna Blue Dons
The Catholic Central Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Madonna Blue Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Catholic Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Monday.
Last Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Catholic Central beat Oak Glen 54-49. With that victory, Catholic Central brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Anna Arai continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mary Rohde, who scored eight points along with 19 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Madonna came up short against Edison on Monday and fell 48-36. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Madonna came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 83rd in West Virginia, while Edison is ranked 639th in Ohio).
Catholic Central's win was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Madonna, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Catholic Central against Madonna when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 55-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Catholic Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
