Softball Recap: Riverview Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Riverview, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Lennard Longhorns on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sharks considering their two-run performance the game before.

Briyana Smith tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kylie Freeland was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Cartwright, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Riverview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Riverview now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Lennard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Riverview will be playing at home against Middleton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Riverview is facing Middleton at the right time seeing as Middleton is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Lennard, they will venture away from home to face off against Armwood at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lennard's pitchers better be ready for this one: Armwood has averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
