Softball Game Preview: Webster Thomas Titans vs. Fairport Red Raiders

The Webster Thomas Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Fairport Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Webster Thomas has nine straight victories, Fairport has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Webster Thomas got the win against Rush-Henrietta by a conclusive 11-4. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Victor hit Fairport with a four-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Raiders fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 7-6.

Lizzie Roessel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Allison Runke also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Webster Thomas' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Fairport, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Everything went Webster Thomas' way against Fairport when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Webster Thomas made off with an 11-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
