Baseball Recap: Southampton Takes a Loss

Southampton fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Center Moriches on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Mariners in their meetings with the Red Devils: they've now lost six in a row.

Southampton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Dupree, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Dupree has hit this season.

Southampton's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Center Moriches, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2.

While Southampton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
