Baseball Game Preview: Newton Rams vs. Rockdale County Bulldogs

The Newton Rams will face off against the Rockdale County Bulldogs at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Newton's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Westlake hitters got past them. Newton came up short against Westlake on Saturday, falling 10-1. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chris Guillory was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Rockdale County was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 16-1 to Heritage.

Rockdale County dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.

Newton beat Rockdale County 9-6 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Newton repeat their success, or does Rockdale County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
