Basketball Recap: Huntingtown Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Huntingtown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the McDonough Rams by a score of 53-45. The win was just business as usual for the Hurricanes, who after four games remain undefeated this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Huntingtown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Autumn Harrod, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Ripple, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

When it comes to explaining why McDonough lost, don't look at Maleesah Williams. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. Williams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Lexi Garrison was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Huntingtown's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for McDonough, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

After both having extra time off, Huntingtown and Takoma Academy will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for McDonough, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Calvert at 5:00 p.m.
