Baseball Game Preview: Lewiston-Altura Cardinals vs. Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms

The Lewiston-Altura Cardinals will face off against the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Lewiston-Altura put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They fell just short of Dover-Eyota by a score of 11-10. The Cardinals have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Blooming Prairie put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over Southland.

Gabe Staloch made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Staloch was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Staloch is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Lea, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Carsten Ingvalson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Lewiston-Altura's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Blooming Prairie, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
