It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lutheran ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Winnebago Indians 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted since April 29, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Gaven Metcalf, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Guse, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Winnebago, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-4.
