Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Newman Crusaders vs. Okeechobee Brahmans

The Cardinal Newman Crusaders will venture away from home to square off against the Okeechobee Brahmans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Newman's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Okeechobee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cardinal Newman is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Jupiter just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 7-1.

Cardinal Newman saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Demarzo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

LaBelle typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Okeechobee proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Cowboys/Cowgirls.

Okeechobee pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-3-1.

Cardinal Newman skirted past Okeechobee 2-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
