Softball Game Preview: Godley Wildcats vs. Ferris Yellowjackets

The Godley Wildcats will challenge the Ferris Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Godley will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Friday. Godley was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Kennedale. Considering Godley has won 18 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Karlee Clark and Sierra Beratto made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Clark tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Beratto tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Clark has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Clark scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Beratto scored a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Alyssa Sullivan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Halle Gross was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Ferris was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillsboro.

Aubrie Henson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Godley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ferris, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11-2.

Godley took their victory against Ferris in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
