Basketball Recap: Freer snaps three-game streak of wins at home

The Freer Buckaroos lost against the Santa Maria Cougars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Freer was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Cougars.

Despite the loss, Freer saw an underclassman step up: Ayden Ramirez scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Ramirez has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abel Maldonado, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Freer's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-18. As for Santa Maria, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-11.

Freer will head out on the road to face off against the Badgers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Ben Bolt will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Santa Maria will take on the Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Agua Dulce is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
