Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Pierce Cardinals vs. Clover Park Timberwolves

For the second straight game, Franklin Pierce will face off against Clover Park. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. Franklin Pierce is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.

Clover Park will be up against a hot Franklin Pierce squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Cardinals blew past the Timberwolves 7-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Cardinals have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dustin Wallace was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Franklin Pierce is undefeated when Wallace posts eight or more strikeouts, but 2-3 otherwise. Wallace was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jacob Powell was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Larson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Clover Park's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Franklin Pierce, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
