Softball Recap: Pierce Bears vs. Paradise Bobcats

Pierce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Paradise Bobcats. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 7, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Maicey Hoebel put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Danica Wilkerson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of LucaBella Nolen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Pierce's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Paradise, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.

Pierce will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gridley at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Paradise, they will head out to challenge Colusa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The RedHawks will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
