Mount Pleasant has gone a perfect 4-0 against McKean recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Mount Pleasant will head out to face off against McKean at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mount Pleasant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past MOT Charter 14-4 on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Green Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Derek Smith and Christian Mascucchini were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Smith pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Mascucchini struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. At the plate, Smith went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Mascucchini scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Chase Wilson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sam Molina, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Mount Pleasant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as MOT Charter only posted an OBP of .414.
Meanwhile, McKean hadn't done well against DuPont recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McKean never let DuPont get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.
The result came thanks to Gavin Erbayri's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jey Oquendo, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.
The victory got Mount Pleasant back to even at 2-2. As for McKean, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-1-1.
Everything went Mount Pleasant's way against McKean when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Mount Pleasant made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount Pleasant since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
