Recap: Mt. Vernon Wildcats vs. Evansville Memorial Tigers

The Mt. Vernon Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Evansville Memorial on the road and fell 59-22. While losing is never fun, Mt. Vernon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Evansville Memorial is ranked 21st).

Mt. Vernon got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Arlissa Sharber and Addison Chilton, who each put up seven points. Sharber also led the team in assists with four. She held things down on the boards with three rebounds.

Evansville Memorial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Kelley, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Sophie Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.

Mt. Vernon has been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Evansville Memorial, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3.

Mt. Vernon will take on Forest Park at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Evansville Memorial, they will head out on the road to square off against Evansville North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
