Baseball Recap: Otto-Eldred Terrors vs. Port Allegany Gators
Otto-Eldred had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-7 to make it four. They came up short against the Port Allegany Gators, falling 10-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 two weeks ago.
Otto-Eldred saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manning Splain, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Jared Obenrader also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for Port Allegany, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
On Port Allegany's side, they let Chase Boyd and Aiden Bliss run wild. Boyd got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double, while Bliss went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kellen Veilleux was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Otto-Eldred is set to face off against their familiar foe Coudersport at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Port Allegany will take on rival Cameron County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
