Softball Recap: Empire Ravens vs. Crismon Rattlers
Empire put the finishing touches on their 19th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They never let the Crismon Rattlers onto the board and left with an 18-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but Empire sure is getting used to it with their 14th in a row.
Not much got past Kendall Freidinger, who gave up just one hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep Crismon off the board. Freidinger has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Morgan Faunce was a standout: she fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Zsitvay, who went 2-for-2 with a home run, six RBI, and two runs.
Empire has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for Crismon, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.
Empire will head out on the road to take on Bourgade Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bourgade Catholic is on a nine-game streak of home wins, Empire a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Crismon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
