Basketball Recap: Maple Valley Lions vs. Reading Rangers
Maple Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Reading Rangers. The Lions lost against the Rangers in their previous head to head back in February of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-13 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Maple Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abbigail Harvey posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Harvey continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reading to victory, but perhaps none more so than McKenzey Penza, who scored 11 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Faith Kipfmiller, who earned eight points and 12 rebounds.
Maple Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Reading, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-5.
