Baseball Recap: Service Takes Down Ranked Bartlett

Service faced Bartlett in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 14-2 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Kegan Lennox looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gideon Lesslie, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Ryker Shreck was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Service kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only managed one hit.

Service's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Bartlett, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Service will be playing at home against Colony at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Bartlett, they will square off against Chugiak at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
