Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Dallas Hernandez and Antoine Williams Lead East to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against The Park School of Buffalo, East was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 53-41 win over the City Honors Centaurs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-51 back in December of 2024.

Leading East to victory were Antoine Williams and Dallas Hernandez. Williams went 6 for 15 en route to 15 points and five rebounds, while Hernandez dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Tendai Furbert, who posted 13 points.

East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

East is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for City Honors, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East will square off against Buffalo Culinary Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Buffalo Culinary Arts' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for City Honors, they will take on Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
