Baseball Recap: Sparta Academy Triumphs

Sparta Academy won against Escambia Academy on Monday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Warriors came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 9-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 12, 2020, but that streak is no more.

JT Coker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Coker was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kyler Barlow was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Jorge Alarcon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Sparta Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Escambia Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cougars beat Sparta Academy by a score of 18-1 later that day.
