Baseball Game Preview: Salado Eagles vs. Gateway College Preparatory Gators

For the second straight game, Salado will face off against Gateway College Preparatory. Salado is taking a road trip to challenge Gateway College Preparatory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Salado has seven straight wins, Gateway College Preparatory has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Salado had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Gateway College Preparatory on Tuesday. Salado was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Gateway College Preparatory.

Owen Curtis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Salado saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kannon Baird, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Jace Light also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Salado pushed their record up to 10-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Gateway College Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
