Basketball Recap: West Panthers vs. Brighton Bengals
It was a good run, but the West Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 60-52 to Brighton. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West in their matchups with the Bengals: they've now lost three in a row.
Laite Latu and Kylee Falatea certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Latu dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Falatea scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Latu has scored all season. Tia Pan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
West's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Brighton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West will take on the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Alta is ranked 25th, while the Panthers are ranked 23rd). As for Brighton, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Olympus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday.
