Softball Recap: Bayard Rustin Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Bayard Rustin had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Kennett Blue Demons as they made off with a 14-3 victory. The Golden Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ashley Falcone made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Kraft, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Belle Skupp, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Bayard Rustin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Bayard Rustin's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Kennett, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Bayard Rustin will venture away from home to take on Great Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennett, they will head out to square off against Octorara Area at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
