Basketball Game Preview: Apple Valley Eagles vs. Shakopee Sabers

Apple Valley is 0-10 against Shakopee since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Apple Valley Eagles will face off against the Shakopee Sabers at 7:00 p.m. Apple Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 26 contests -- so hopefully Shakopee likes a good challenge.

Apple Valley is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since January 28th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lakeville North by a score of 76-74.

Meanwhile, Shakopee had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 66-57.

Shakopee's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.4 points over those games. As for Apple Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 21-5.

Apple Valley came up short against Shakopee in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 71-66. Can Apple Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
