Section 3 Class B - West recap October 29, 2013
Homer added to the longest winning streak in Section 3 Class B - West this week by beating Camden, 41-14. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Trojans.
Marcellus moved up to 122 from 215 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs were able to move up by defeating Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 14-6.
Austin Wirth was a key player and the best on defense this week as Birdlebough beat Altmar-Parish-Williamstown. The 5-foot-7 sophomore grabbed 2 sacks.
Tim Gandino provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Firebirds defeated the Rebels.
Chris Brown was the best wideout in the league this week as Homer defeated the Blue Devils. Brown tallied 3 receptions for 69 yards. Jayden Gavidia helped Homer's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 34 yards.
Homer's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Drew Cottrell has thrown for 461 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Gavidia has 9 catches for 289 yards.
Marcellus made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,298 from 7,060. The advance stemmed from a 14-6 victory over the Red Devils last week.
