Volleyball Recap: East Thunderbirds vs. Evanston Devils
East faced Evanston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Thunderbirds fell 2-0 to the Devils. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2020.
Taylor Nelson paced East's offense, picking up seven kills. Nelson were helped by Charli Cameron and Mckenna Waters, who contributed ten assists each.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evanston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Afton Brown, who had 11 assists and five digs. Another player making a difference was Brinley Hanks, who had seven digs and two aces.
East has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Evanston, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-11.
