Somerset relied on the efforts of Elly Fletcher, who had eight digs and three aces, and Molly Stoy, who had 12 assists and three digs. Those 12 assists gave Stoy a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Westmont Hilltop didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Carroll on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Hilltoppers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Huskies 25-19 in the first set.
Westmont Hilltop started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-10.
Somerset will need to focus on slowing down Isabella Parrish, one of several Westmont Hilltop players who made an impact when they last played. She had 20 digs and three aces.
Westmont Hilltop has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Somerset, their win bumped their record up to 22-5-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's match: Somerset has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Westmont Hilltop struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
