Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Raiders vs. Bastrop Rams

The Northwest Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Bastrop Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Northwest is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Jennings by a score of 74-64. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Bastrop's strategy against Breaux Bridge on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bastrop blew Breaux Bridge out of the water with an 87-39 final score. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Northwest better focus on containing Lebron Deal and Antron Mason II as the pair were huge in Bastrop's win. Deal shot 70% from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals, while Mason II went 9-for-15 en route to 26 points along with seven assists and seven steals. The contest was Deal's seventh in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Tyson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

Bastrop is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points over those games. Northwest's win bumped their record up to 21-12.
