Baseball Recap: Albany Takes a Loss

Albany suffered their closest loss since April 5, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the El Cerrito Gauchos by a score of 4-2. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gauchos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Max Eddy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, Mikey Richards made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Albany has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season. As for El Cerrito, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

While Albany had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
