Softball Recap: New Paltz Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

New Paltz owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They blew past the Highland Huskies 7-0. Considering the Huguenots have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Gabby Torre, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Highland off the board. Torre has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, New Paltz got a big performance out of Evelyn Gates, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Gates has hit this season. Bella Morales was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory (which was New Paltz's third in a row) raised their record to 11-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Highland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

As of now, neither New Paltz nor Highland have any future games scheduled.
