Baseball Recap: Antonian Prep Comes Up Short

Antonian Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 17-14 to the St. Michael's Warriors. Even if the Apaches couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Emilio Negrete was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Joseph Carreon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Antonian Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Antonian Prep now has a losing record of 7-8-1. As for St. Michael's, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12.

While Antonian Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
