Baseball Recap: Estacada Takes a Loss

Estacada was the 5-3 winner over Gladstone when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Rangers fell just short of the Gladiators by a score of 4-3 on Monday.

Estacada got a good showing from Turner Jackson, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jackson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Blake Barger made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Estacada's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Gladstone, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Estacada will host Astoria at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gladstone, they will welcome The Dalles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gladiators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Riverhawks have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
