Baseball Recap: Brighton Triumphs

Brighton posted their closest win since March 25th on Saturday. They skirted past the Ridgeline Riverhawks 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bengals.

Wilder Strong looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Brighton is 3-1 when Strong allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Jonathon Ellis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Brighton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Broden Fry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Brighton's record now sits at 6-9. As for Ridgeline, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brighton will welcome Viewmont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Vikings have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Ridgeline, they will host Mountain Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Riverhawks 4, the Mustangs 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
