Basketball Recap: Murphysboro Comes Up Short

Murphysboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wayne City/Cisne. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Devils of the 40-27 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Murphysboro's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Wayne City/Cisne, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

When Murphysboro and Wayne City/Cisne next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Murphysboro will try to stop Trico's three-game winning streak when the meet at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Wayne City/Cisne will face off against Johnston City and their three-game winning streak at 3:00 p.m. on February 1, 2025.
