Softball Game Preview: Chase County Bulldogs vs. Mission Valley Vikings

Chase County is 2-8 against Mission Valley since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Chase County put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They walked away with a 14-10 win over Marais des Cygnes Valley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Mission Valley made easy work of Lebo on Monday and carried off a 16-1 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kyplee Jacobson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games. Natalie Hoffman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Mission Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Mission Valley has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Chase County, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Chase County might still be hurting after the 13-7 defeat they got from Mission Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
