Basketball Recap: Johnston Takes a Loss

Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Urbandale J-Hawks. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the J-Hawks earlier this season, when they won 62-37.

Johnston's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for Urbandale, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnston will venture away from home to challenge Dowling Catholic at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Dowling Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Johnston likes a good challenge. As for Urbandale, they will head out on the road to square off against Valley at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
