Baseball Recap: Interboro Drops Highest Score of Season Against Penn Wood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Interboro). They never let the Penn Wood Patriots get on the board and left with a 33-0 win on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Kaiden Whalen made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Whalen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Garry Shropshire was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Nick Rivera was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Interboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win was the third in a row for Interboro, bringing their record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Penn Wood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Interboro will welcome Chester at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Penn Wood, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Overbrook at 3:15 p.m. The Patriots are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
