Baseball Recap: Two Rivers Comes Up Short

Two Rivers had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-10 to make it four. They lost 9-3 to the Roncalli Jets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Monday.

Logan Hansen made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Schramm, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Roncalli, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

On Roncalli's side, Hayden Dewane was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Dewane has posted over his last four matchups. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Roncalli: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominik Frozena, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Roncalli is undefeated when Frozena posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Two Rivers will face off against New Holstein at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roncalli, they will challenge Ozaukee at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
