Softball Game Preview: Canton Central Catholic Crusaders vs. Black River Pirates

The Canton Central Catholic Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Black River Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Black River took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Canton Central Catholic, who comes in off a win.

Canton Central Catholic saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They skirted past Mapleton 5-4. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, Black River suffered their closest loss since April 3rd on Thursday. They fell just short of Wellington by a score of 7-5. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Abbey Kiser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Remi Dieter and Mia Rosales did some serious damage despite the final result: Dieter went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Rosales went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Dieter has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Peyton Stewart was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Black River's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Canton Central Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.
