Softball Recap: Capital Cougars vs. Parkersburg Big Reds
Capital had lost 13 straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-23 to make it 14. They came up short against the Parkersburg Big Reds, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Big Reds this season, with their most recent defeat being a 17-7 loss two weeks ago.
Jadan Bishop made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Sedosky, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
As for Parkersburg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On Parkersburg's side, Camella Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Cooper has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brynn Frye was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Krista Durkin, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
As of now, neither Capital nor Parkersburg have any future games scheduled.
