Football Game Preview: Scituate Spartans vs. Johnston Panthers + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Scituate Spartans and the Johnston Panthers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Scituate heads in on the heels of a playoff contest last Thursday. They lost 27-7 to Narragansett. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Mariners recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Scituate's defeat came about despite a quality game from Drake Dumont, who rushed for 138 yards.

Meanwhile, Johnston faced Classical in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Panthers took a blow against the Purple, falling 42-7. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Scituate, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Scituate strolled past Johnston in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 36-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
