Baker County was the 62-54 winner over Union County when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Baker County Wildcats took a hard 65-47 fall against the Union County Fightin' Tigers on Saturday. The Wildcats were down 56-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Carver, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Zody, who had ten points.

Even though they lost, Baker County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union County only pulled down five offensive boards.

Union County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Jenkins, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points along with seven boards and three steals. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyrese Chandler, who went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points.

Baker County's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Union County, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Baker County will head out on the road to take on Fernandina Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Fernandina Beach will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Baker County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union County, they will take on Middleburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
