Baseball Recap: Buena Takes a Loss

Buena came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Santa Barbara Dons, falling 14-5. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Dons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Kody Walton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

On the hitting side, Buena saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Paris, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Another was Gabriel Alonzo, who went 3-for-5 with one RBI.

Buena now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Santa Barbara, their record is now 12-6-1.

Looking ahead, Buena will square off against Nordhoff at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Rangers at the right time seeing as the Rangers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Santa Barbara will be paying especially close attention to Buena's contest: after Buena faces off against Nordhoff, they'll take on Santa Barbara again at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
