Soccer Game Preview: Menlo-Atherton vs. South San Francisco

The Menlo-Atherton Bears will square off against the South San Francisco Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

South San Francisco will be up against a hot Menlo-Atherton squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Menlo-Atherton's defense stepped up to hand Aragon a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Dons are ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, South San Francisco was not quite Carlmont's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Scots by a score of 1-0. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Scots recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Menlo-Atherton pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for South San Francisco, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
