Baseball Recap: Central Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the DeSoto Dragons 5-4. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 4-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Chapman Ogles tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Central is 7-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Central let Jathan Spain and Hayden Bowers run wild. Spain got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI, while Bowers got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caden Chenoweth, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 15-13. As for DeSoto, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-15.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for DeSoto, they will challenge Warrenton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 3.8, the Warriors 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
