Softball Recap: Halls Tigers vs. Richland Raiders

The Halls Tigers didn't have quite enough to beat the Richland Raiders on Saturday and fell 8-7.

Carrlee Riddick was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Halls got a big performance out of Madison Turnbow, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jayla Cobb, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Halls dropped their record down to 4-5 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Richland, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Halls has already played their next contest, a 4-0 defeat against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central on the 22nd. As for Richland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Milan on the 22nd.
