Baseball Recap: Pinecrest Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pinecrest's offense. They fell just short of the Laney Buccaneers by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Patriots' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bohdi Robertson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Pinecrest's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Laney, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinecrest will take on Hoggard at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Laney, they will challenge Uwharrie Charter Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
