Basketball Recap: South Atlanta Comes Up Short

South Atlanta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Columbia Eagles, falling 56-9. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 44-12 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2022.

Aalon Turner had an outrageously good game for Columbia as she went 7 for 15 on her way to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. That's the most steals Turner has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of DeDe Spaulding, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and six boards.

South Atlanta's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Columbia, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

South Atlanta will challenge Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbia, they will face off against Redan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia's defense has only allowed 29.3 points per game this season, so Redan's offense will have their work cut out for them.
